The Climbing Wall Award (CWA) is a relatively new qualification. It's designed to cater for those running sessions at walls - mainly novices. It covers a wide range of skills such as group management, injury prevention, bouldering, group abseiling and lead climbing etc. During the course you visit two seperate walls and the course is a mix of practical and theoretical sessions.

This course was run on behalf of the Simonside Youth Centre using their excellent facilities as well as the Newcastle Climbing Centre. On the saturday evening I was also a guest at the Simonside Centre. I gave a presentation on 'a year in the life of a Mountain Guide' as well as working in Antarctica.
